Camps and Conference Scholarship Policy
of First Presbyterian Church, McAllen, Texas

In order to encourage our young people and adults to participate in denominational camps and conferences, First Presbyterian Church of McAllen will award scholarships for church members and active youth group members. The scholarship amount awarded will vary depending on the event but will be no more than half the cost of the camp or conference. In special circumstances, full scholarships will be considered at the discretion of the Pastor, DCE and a Youth Sponsor. For a partial scholarship, the following limitations apply:

  • No more than $150 will be awarded per elementary age child per year
  • No more than $200 will be awarded per Junior High youth per year
  • No more than $300 will be awarded per Senior High youth or adult per year. 

To qualify for a scholarship, a copy of your registration form and a copy of your check for deposit (when deposit is required) must be in to the church financial secretary by the deadline set and posted by the church. The participants who have their paperwork in by the deadline will be notified of the amount of additional funding required by them to attend the camp.

Instructions for applying:

  1. Mail application with any required deposit directly to camp/conference.
  2. Bring copy of submitted application and copy of check sent for deposit to the church financial secretary. Do not pay entire fee to camp. The church cannot reimburse individuals.
  3. The church financial secretary and DCE will review scholarship applications and notify you of your remaining balance.
  4. The church financial secretary will send money for all participants who've met the deadline to the camp or conference.
