Where
learning is Fun!
Fifty
years ago, Lynn Flowers established a five year old kindergarten
class at First Presbyterian Church, because of Lynn’s nurturing
personality and sound educational philosophy, the kindergarten was
an immediate success. Within the next few years, the successful
program evolved into a full preschool program. Read

Su
Casa de Esperanza
(Your House of Hope)
|
|
The
Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas with its bright sun and tropical
weather attracts many visitors from other areas. What is not attractive
is the pockets of poverty that exist in many areas, especially in
rural communities such as Las Milpas. Many of the families are far
removed from mainstream activities. The isolation, coupled with
lack of transportation, a migratory lifestyle, a double-digit unemployment
rate and language exacerbate the barriers that limit the chance
to succeed.
Su
Casa de Esperanza responds to the many changing needs of these families.
The objective of Su Casa is to provide a multiphase approach which
includes early childhood development program, parenting classes,
an after school program, prenatal classes, home visits and information
and referral. The parents are encouraged to participate in programs
that nurture self-reliance so they can contribute to a resilient
community, where the entire family will become motivated, solve
problems together and share in similar vision. Su
