Mid-winter Musings (February 26, 2007) Except for the absence of snow, one feels like they are still in Ohio this winter. I glanced back at last month’s pastoral letter and realized things haven’t changed much. It is still cold, overcast and dismal. Is there any hope for the return of those warm days of typical valley weather?
The Session met this past Tuesday evening for some two hours. You should be pleased with the folks you selected to serve on the Session and session callings (committees). The reports were full of things done and things to do. The discussions were lively with full participation of those present.
First Presbyterian McAllen truly has an abundance of talented and active volunteers who step up to meet the needs of God’s people. Watch for examples of their work over the next months in the life of this particular church. Also, watch for opportunities to participate in one of the ministries.
I believe that the Pastor Nominating Committee is hard at work and doing a good job of sifting through the applications. My personal expectations are high that we will have a new installed pastor sooner than later. Keep the faith and know that God is at work in this search process.
Watch the calendar and bulletin for the Easter season special worship occasions. We will have many opportunities for you to join your church family in worship of the risen Christ.
