From the Interim Pastor's Desk, (September 16, 2005) Starting Wednesday, September 14th, we will begin the group meetings where we seek to “Come to terms with our Past.” We will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 PM and committed to adjourning no later than 8:30 PM. Childcare will be provided during the meetings. You need to attend only one of the Wednesday meetings following the schedule listed below: Wednesday Sept. 14th Families with last names beginning with A thru G. Wednesday Sept. 21st Families with last names beginning with H thru L. Wednesday Sept. 28th Families with last names beginning with M thru P. Wednesday Oct. 5th Families with last names beginning with Q thru T. Wednesday Oct. 12th No group meetings. Wednesday Oct. 19th Families with last names beginning with U thru Z. If you cannot attend your scheduled meeting date, then you are welcome to attend one that is convenient. Your input is important so please try to fit us into your schedule. It is hoped that you can come and share the “Sunrises” of your life as a part of FPC McAllen. We want to celebrate the things that have worked for us in both program and relationships. But we don’t want to avoid “the herd of elephants” in the room So we’ll also need to share the things that weren’t so good. Some wise elder once said, “If you don’t know your history, you are prone to repeat your mistakes.” And I don’t believe any of us want to repeat the painful parts of our history. Remember it is a human characteristic to want to blame someone for our pain or discomfort. Our meetings will be emphasizing celebration of our blessings and gifts rather than assigning blame.
